LSTD offers the CMRA’s New Rider’s School curriculum as an option to its track day participants. Riders who successfully complete the riding portion of the course and the written test, will be eligible for a CMRA racing license.
Mondays/Weekends: CMRA racing license curriculum runs in conjunction with lunch and starts at 12:45pm. Mock race held at 4:45pm.
Fridays: CMRA racing license curriculum runs all day and starts at 9am. Mock race held at 4:45pm.
On Friday events, the CMRA school runs all day. Neither will cut into your track time. The “mock start/race” begins at 4:45pm and runs for 4 laps, therefore, it will be the final session of the day. Throughout the day, you are allowed to ride in whatever group fits your riding ability (ie, A Group, B Group or C Group) while participating in the CMRA racing license school. This additional curriculum differs from what the LSTD Riding School covers, as it goes into details regarding the racing environment:
- Flags and what they mean.
- What is and is not allowed to occur on the track.
- Grid positions and how to keep track of them.
- Various race case scenarios.
- Paddock rules & regulations
- Finally, a 36 question test will be taken (and must be passed) at the end of the day.
** Only an additional $75 for this school **
All CMRA students must complete the following before receiving their certificate:
- Attend all classroom time
- Not miss more than 6 of the 36 questions on the written exam
- Not crash at any time while on the track
- Ride the mock-race at the end of the day
RIDER’S SCHOOL PARTICIPANTS: All RS participants will be allowed to pay for their licensing fees and handle their paperwork at the end of the track day!
JUNIOR MOTARD: For 2008, any rider who wants a license (regardless of whether or not they have moved up from Junior Motard) must take the full license class and ride a full track day.
A separate $145 fee is charged by the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) to be registered with them as a licensed road racer. The total fee paid to LSTD covers your track day cost with us and the mandatory riders cirriculum required by the CMRA to obtain a racing license. You will be instructed how the CMRA fee should be handled in the classroom.
Although LSTD is proud to give motorcycle riders the opportunity to obtain their racing license, we must also state that doing so is not recommended for the rider who has yet to acquire any track time. It is recommended that all new-comers to the track experience take the LSTD Riding School and/or partcipate in a few track days before making the decision to go racing.
